Paraleipsis \par-uh-lip-sis\
: the device of giving emphasis by professing to say little or nothing about a subject
The skinny:
20-something female from Toronto. Lives with her husband and two dogs in the beautiful "Scarlem" area. Works full-time doing marketing-type things (and much more outside her official job description). In her spare time you can find her creating – whether it be a knit sweater, a short story, or a new recipe. She is a bookworm, a bellydancer, a knitter, and much too stubborn for her own good!
The extended version:
I am an equal mix of both of my parents. From my mum I inherited a bit of bohemianism and social awareness. From my father I learned the value of money (and working hard for it) and came to acquire somewhat of an expensive taste (which unfortunately I do not get to indulge often). Like my parents, my political views are mixed: I can lean towards the left (mum) only to turn around a second later and lean towards the right (dad).
I chose to go into Marketing after high school to get the required post-secondary education behind me so I could pursue further education at a private music school in Recorded Arts Management. After that fell through for various reasons (lack of money, mainly, and the horror stories from friends within a declining industry) I landed in the confectionery business, where I have (sometimes un-)happily been ever since.
I always have a “project” going on in my spare time. It can be anything from performing surgery on my wardrobe, painting on canvas to fill the blank space on the wall, trying a new knitting pattern, or just trying to finish the book I was sidetracked from months ago. I have recently gone back to school part-time to pursue Communication Studies, just for fun.
